Clive Parritt FCA CF, a director and chairman of several UK companies and investment trusts, has been elected as the next Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He will take office on 3 June 2009.
Following the announcement of the election result, delayed due to the snow in the UK, Parritt who is also a member of the ICAEW's council and board, said:-
"I am thrilled to have been elected by Council as the Institute's next Vice President. Never more than now have chartered accountants been needed by business and the communities we serve. We are essential contributors to the rebuilding of the economy. I am looking forward with enthusiasm to playing my part in helping the Institute extend its reach around the world, supporting its members as together we help businesses rebuild and create the economic confidence which has been lost as a result of the global downturn."

"Over many years, Clive has made a significant contribution to the work of the Institute as a Council member, Board member and as chair of the Member Services Board. He brings with him a wealth of experience, both through his time in practice at Baker Tilly but also as a member more recently working in the business community. Clive Parritt is a chartered accountant with over 30 years experience of providing strategic, financial and commercial advice to growing businesses. He trained with a small firm before moving to and becoming a partner in a medium sized firm which subsequently merged with Touche Ross, now Deloitte. He left Touche Ross in 1982 and joined Baker Tilly where he was chairman until 2001 having been its managing partner for ten years until 1996.
During his career, Clive has worked with listed and privately owned companies, venture capital firms, accountancy firms, corporate finance boutiques and private equity houses. He has worked with several businesses from start-up through to flotation or trade sale. He has also helped launch several VCTs and Investment Trusts and subsequently acted as chairman or non-executive director for a number of such funds.
Today, Clive is chairman of Baronsmead VCT2 plc, BG Consulting Group Limited and DiGiCo Europe Limited. He is also a director of London; Associated Properties plc, F & C US Smaller Companies plc and Baronsmead AIM VCT plc.
