The Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (CW LEP) proposition provides a unique opportunity for local business and civic leaders to develop strong local leadership and to assume local responsibility and accountability for creating and driving a ‘demand-led’ enterprise economy.
Established by the Coalition Government as part of a series of reforms replacing the Regional Agencies, the CW LEP commenced operation in January 2011 with a board made up of local businessmen and government officials and chaired by business owner Denys Shortt, CEO & Founder of Stratford based business DCS Europe.
As part of its working structure, the LEP has set up a Finance Committee, which will consist of 8 representatives drawn from the local banking and finance community. Their purpose will be to monitor, shape and drive local finance issues, and Mr Shortt is keen that a representative from the ICAEW acts as a key part of the team.
To that end, we are seeking nominations for the role in order to select our representative as soon as we can. The role is unpaid, and will most likely consist of being required to attend Finance Committee meetings, likely to be no more than one brief meeting per month (this may be subject to change though) and represent the ICAEW and its members.
If you are interested, please write two paragraphs outlining your professional background, and reason/interest in getting involved and submit to Regional Director Nigel Hastilow at nigel.hastilow@icaew.com before Monday, February 14.
