Rod Sellers OBE has been awarded the Manchester Chartered Accountants’ inaugural Special Recognition Award.
The Chairman of both the Seddon Group in Bolton and Diligencia based in Daresbury is the first person to receive the award introduced this year by Su Rai, President of Manchester Chartered Accountants.
Rod was chosen for his contribution to the local business community; his promotion of Manchester as a commercial centre and his support for the Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.
He has had a distinguished career with former roles including Chief Executive of British Vita and
Chairman of both conservatory business Ultraframe and the Manchester Business School Incubator. He was also Chairman of the Commonwealth Economics Benefits Initiative and was awarded an OBE for services to Manchester’s business community before and after the Commonwealth Games in 2002.
Su Rai, President of Manchester Chartered Accountants, said: “Rod is a tremendous advocate of the Manchester and North West business community and a worthy winner of this award. As part of my legacy as President I hope that Manchester Chartered Accountants will continue to recognise the city’s ambassadors who in addition to their day jobs work tirelessly to put Manchester and the North West region on the map.”
Rod said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be chosen as the first recipient of this award. I congratulate Su and the Society for putting service to the business community and encouraging entrepreneurship so high on the agenda and I hope that, in addition to all those who already give so much of their time and expertise to help young businesses grow, this will encourage many more accountants to promote the development of the countless worthy businesses in the Region”.
