Jane Mather, Divisional Director for the Northern region of SWAT UK, has been elected President of Humberside & District Society of Chartered Accountants (H&DSCA) for 2011-2012.
Jane graduated from Hull University with a BA Honours Degree in Spanish and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She joined Hodgson Harris, a 12 partner practice, in 1984 and qualified as an ICAEW chartered accountant in 1987.
After a short break in industry and a career break to raise three children, Jane joined SWAT UK, one of the largest accountancy training providers in the UK, in January 1998, where her work now includes audit, accounts and IB reviews and where she has a particular interest in training and lecturing.
Born in Shoreham by Sea, Jane attended Boundstone School in Lancing, Sussex, before coming to Hull as a student at the University. During her accountancy training, she was heavily involved in the Humberside & District Chartered Accountant Students’ Society (H&DCASS) and also sat on the ICAEW’s National Student Liaison Committee.
Married with three teenage sons, she now lives in Hessle and in her spare time enjoys scouting, gardening, walking and reading Jane is joined by John Gilleard, partner at Dutton Moore, as HDSCA Deputy President. John, who now lives in Beverley, was born in Hull, and has worked at Dutton Moore since leaving college in 1980. He has extensive experience of working in the SME sector and also in specialised audits such as charities and solicitors.
On the ‘South Bank’ Mark Cousins, partner at Haines Watts, continues as President for Grimsby & North Lincolnshire Society of Chartered Accountants. Born in Grimsby, Mark, who now lives in Scunthorpe, attended Waltham Toll Bar School until the age of eighteen. After A-levels, he completed an accounting degree at university in Hull.
He became a partner in the practice in 2006, specialising in Limited Company work and has a large portfolio of audit and non-audit clients. In addition to dealing with compliance work as required, he also works closely with his clients in an advisory capacity.
