Three students from Leeds Metropolitan University have been recognised in the bursary scheme supported by WYSCA.
Michael Freedman, immediate Past President, presented the award for the best overall performance on the second year of the BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance course to Daniel Atherton.
Daniel commented that he was delighted to receive the award and feels it will be a useful addition to his CV.
He said: "I feel this award has given me a great confidence boost and should help me in the future to gain employment in the profession."
The award for the most outstanding student on the first year on the course was shared between Swi Pang and Lloyd Stallebrass who shared the top grade. Swi Pang is an international student from Malaysia, studying at LMU on a badminton sports scholarship. Swi thanked WYSCA for the award and said “I am really grateful to the sponsors and Leeds Metropolitan University for giving me this opportunity. Winning the prize gives me more confidence for the challenging second year”.
Michael also took time to talk through current challenges facing the accounting industry and offered some advice to help prepare the students for life after graduating.
