The Sheffield College is pleased to announce its dates for a series of free one day workshops to train SME business owners, SME employees and business support professionals in mentoring skills.
The workshops form part of a UK wide initiative called Get Mentoring, which was launched in November 2011 to recruit, train and deploy 10,000 business mentors from the small, medium and micro business community.
As a delivery partner in the initiative, The Sheffield College will be running the workshops from December 2011 to March 2012.
The workshops are designed to help business people reflect on their current skills, experience and knowledge, and apply this to the help and support they give others as they to start and grow their business.
On completion of the workshops, the newly trained business mentors will be given a short multiple choice questionnaire to complete on the day, and will then be issued with a SFEDI Certificate of Recognition for completing the Introduction to Enterprise Mentoring Course. They will also receive free membership of the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (IoEE) and a listing on mentorsme.co.uk, a national web portal that provides a single point of access to mentoring services.
Trained mentors will be required to commit at least one hour a month to free mentoring and a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Plan during their first year.
The free workshops are available on the following days:
- December – 20th and 21th
- January – 4th, 11th, 18th and 26th
- February – 1st, 2nd, 9th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 23rd and 29th
- March – 7th, 8th, 15th, 21st, 22nd and 26th
The workshops will run from 9.00 -17.00 and be based at The Sheffield City College (close to the city centre). All refreshments will be provided. Unfortunately, parking is not available; however, public transport links are excellent. Links will be forwarded with your welcome pack.
