ICAEW G20 forum: What does it mean for the global recovery?

In light of the Euro crisis and wider global financial problems, all eyes are now on the G20 summit in Cannes due to be held on 3-4 November. World leaders are under pressure to ensure a global economic recovery by promoting co-ordination among G20 nations on issues such as sovereign debt, dismantling trade barriers and enabling job creation.

In the days following the Cannes summit, ICAEW will be holding a private Parliamentary roundtable hosted by Chris Leslie MP, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury, with senior diplomats from G20 nations, parliamentarians and senior business stakeholders, to consider:

  • Has the G20 offered effective leadership to steer the world out of danger?
  • What do G20 outputs actually mean in practice?
  • What next if solutions to the global economic recovery cannot be agreed?
  • Is the G20 the most effective solution for co-ordination and cooperation of the world’s leading economies on global issues? Are there viable alternatives?
