Key regional findings

London

33% of UK-based ACAs live in London. Their average basic salary and bonus continue to be well above the UK average. The median salary is also well above the UK median.

An above average number of ACAs in the region had a salary review (67% compared with 63% nationally) and an above average number received a bonus (65% compared with 54%) in the previous 12 months.

South East

18% of UK-based ACAs live in the South East. They receive a below average basic salary and bonus compared to the UK average. This differential is especially apparent for those qualified 9–19 years. The median salary is in line with the UK median.

  • Median basic salary is £66,000
  • Average bonus is £9,000

South West

6% of UK-based ACAs live in the South West. They receive a below average basic salary and bonus compared to the UK average. The salary differential is especially apparent for those qualified 4–9 and 20+ years. The median salary is also below the UK median.

  • Median basic salary is £59,000
  • Average bonus is £6,000

East of England

12% of UK-based ACAs live in the East of England. Their average basic salary and bonus are much in line with the UK average. The median salary is also in line with the UK median. A below average number of ACAs received a bonus (46% compared with 54% nationally) in the previous 12 months.

East Midlands

5% of UK-based ACAs live in the East Midlands. Their average basic salary is below the UK average. The median salary is also below the UK median. But, an above average number of ACAs (72% compared with 63% nationally) had a salary review in the last 12 months.

52% received a bonus in the previous 12 months, which is broadly in line with the national average. But more than one in three of recipients said this was lower than in the previous 12 months (v 22% nationally).

West Midlands

6% of UK-based ACAs live in the West Midlands. Their average basic salary and bonus are much in line with the UK average. The median salary is below the UK median. ACAs in the region were less likely than average (52% compared with 63% nationally) to have had a salary review in the last 12 months.

North West

8% of UK-based ACAs live in the North West. Their average basic salary is below the UK average. The median salary is also below the UK median. 47% of ACAs in this region received a bonus in the previous 12 months (below the national average of 54%).

  • Median basic salary is £56,000
  • Average bonus is £9,000

Yorkshire and Humberside

7% of UK-based ACAs live in Yorkshire and Humberside. Their average basic salary is below the UK average. The median salary is also below the UK median.

A lower proportion of ACAs in Yorkshire and Humberside are eligible for a company bonus system (61% v 69% nationally). However, those who did receive a bonus in the past 12 months were more likely to have seen it increase over the previous 12 months (63% v 49%).
