Global Inspiration Awards 2012 nominations now open

Has an ACA student inspired you?

The ICAEW Foundation and Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Association (CABA) are now taking nominations for the 2012 Global Inspiration Awards that recognise our outstanding students.

Eligible candidates

The awards are open to ACA students worldwide who have demonstrated outstanding or exceptional qualities in overcoming significant personal, social or financial adversity to maintain or complete their studies, and are also an inspiration to others. Difficulties faced may include:

2012 awards

£5,000 each will be awarded entirely on merit to up to six candidates selected by the panel of independent judges.

  • Serious illness or injury
  • Disability
  • Bereavement
  • Learning difficulties
  • Language barriers
  • Extreme financial hardship
  • Caring for a partner or relative.

Who can nominate

Candidates can be nominated by:

  • ICAEW members or staff worldwide
  • ICAEW regions or district societies
  • ICAEW council or student council
  • practising firms
  • tutorial firms.

Candidates may also be nominated by other ACA students, as long as the nomination is countersigned by one of the following:

  • ICAEW council member or a student council member
  • partner from the relevant practising firm
  • principal from the relevant tutorial firm

How to nominate

Your nomination should outline the reasons why an individual should be considered and give details of the outstanding qualities they have displayed. Download and complete the nomination form that sets out the nomination criteria and send it, in strict confidence, to ICAEW Foundation by email or post - address details shown below.

Please include as much information as you can on your candidate as this helps our judging panel. Remember to include the student’s membership number on the nomination and get consent from the candidate before making your nomination.

Entry deadline

The deadline for nominations is 25 April 2012.

Selection panel

The awards will be judged by a panel of senior representatives of ICAEW Foundation and CABA. We will notify the winners in June 2012.

Winning candidates will be invited to attend ICAEW’s Charity Awards evening at chartered accountants hall, however the ceremony is not compulsory to attend. Winners can send a representative to accept the award on their behalf if they are unable to attend themselves.

  • We will not disclose the personal details of winners without their consent.
  • The closing date for entries is 25 April 2012.
  • Winning candidates will be contacted in June.
  • Winning candidates will be invited to accept their award at the ICAEW awards evening, however the ceremony is not compulsory to attend. Winners can send a representative to accept the award on their behalf if they are unable to attend themselves.
  • The selection panel reserves the right not to make an award or to make fewer than six awards.
