The region represents over 33,000 chartered accountants working at the heart of business in the professional services, financial services and industry. Our aim is to raise the profile of the ICAEW and demonstrate that our members are inspiring confidence at the heart of international business.

The region offers a wide range of activities to meet the interests of our members in business and practice.
The work of representing our members’ interests in London is undertaken by two district societies, the London society and the Croydon & District society.
We are also an important link between chartered accountants in London and business support organisations (BSOs) to demonstrate the crucial role that chartered accountants have in creating prosperity. We work closely with the London Development Agency (LDA), the Greater London Authority (GLA), the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Bank of England amongst others, to ensure the concerns of members in the region are heard by decision-makers at every level.

Running your own business can be an immensely rewarding experience. Every year approximately 400,000 new businesses start up in the UK.
Decisions taken in the early years can be the most difficult as well as the most important, particularly for first time entrepreneurs and those with no previous business knowledge or experience.
Run a Successful Business examines the challenges involved in setting up a business: the issues that you need to resolve before starting up and the questions you need to answer in order to make those crucial first steps and then grow your business with confidence.
The booklet takes you through various stages:

- Exiting a business
- Further advice on taxation, jargon, and choosing a chartered accountant.
Our aim is to have this brochure available at the various business exhibitions, such as Business Start Up, that we attend on behalf of ICAEW, and where we talk to visitors to our stand who wish to find out more about the services that chartered accountants can offer them.
