Council elections 2012

Chief Executive Michael Izza has given notice that there will be by-elections to the ICAEW council in three constituencies – South Eastern, Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton, and West of England.

That means we’re looking for three new council members to help shape the future of ICAEW. So if you would like to influence our strategy, and are willing to represent the members in your constituency at the highest level, why not stand for election?

How to become a candidate

If you would like to stand for election, you need to complete the nomination form and collect signatures from 10 members in your constituency who support your nomination.

Closing dates:
South Eastern: 16 March 2012
Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton: 16 March 2012
West of England: 6 April 2012

Please return your completed form by the due date to: Michael Izza, ICAEW, Chartered Accountants' Hall, Moorgate Place, London EC2R 6EA.

If you have any questions on this notice of elections or you need help with any aspect of the election process, please email us or call +44 (0)20 7920 8560. We can also provide printed copies of the forms if you are unable to download them.

Rewards and responsibilities of being a council member

As a member of council, your opinions will feed into ICAEW’s strategy and you will be involved in debates on the big issues facing the profession. Being on the ICAEW council is not a role for the shy and retiring type – you will be expected to:

  • Represent your district society at council level
  • Update your constituency on matters discussed and agreed by council
  • Attend six council meetings each year

Being on council also has its rewards. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Raise your profile by networking with influential figures within the finance profession
  • Influence stakeholders at a senior level
  • Develop leadership and public speaking skills
  • Gain strategic insight and influence within ICAEW
  • Take the first step toward becoming ICAEW president

The elected term in South Eastern is three years, but the vacancies in Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton and West of England are for one year.
