Deborah Chaplin, Director, Faculties

Deborah Chaplin joined ICAEW in 2001 in the Faculties department. She is now the Director of Faculties.


Deborah leads the team of the seven specialist Faculties, who are the voice of ICAEW in their respective areas of audit and assurance, corporate finance, finance & management, financial reporting, financial services, IT and tax.

She joined ICAEW in 2001, taking the lead on several projects, including the Faculty’s flagship publication on the drivers of audit quality and she led the Faculty team supporting the Audit Quality Forum. She was also a member of the Auditing Working Party of the European Federation of Accountants.

Prior to becoming Head of Faculties, Deborah was the head of the ICAEW Audit and Assurance Faculty for six years, with overall responsibility for the implementation of the Faculty strategy, in particular the delivery of technical and practical support to audit and assurance members.

Before joining ICAEW Deborah was a senior manager at Deloitte working in listed company audit including a number of corporate transactions. She also completed two commercial secondments and held internal strategic roles around e-business business development and had primary responsibility for department training programmes for over 200 audit technical staff including the design, implementation and delivery of training modules.

Deborah qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant in 1995, and is a fellow of ICAEW (FCA).
