Global Accounting Alliance

Our response to the challenges of globalisation

ICAEW is one of the founding members of the Global Accounting Alliance. This is an agreement between leading professional accountancy bodies in significant capital markets. It was formed in 2005 in response to the emerging challenges of globalisation

The GAA promotes quality professional services, global membership support, information sharing and collaboration on important international issues.

Support for members

One of the GAA’s key objectives is to help members meet the challenges of combining global and local knowledge. To do this, GAA institutes share specific local member support services with each other. These vary across locations but include:

  • Technical expertise and professional guidance in all the world’s major financial centres
  • Access to CPD and networking events
  • Membership of technical groups
  • Access to library resources and meeting facilities

The alliance also provides a structure in which member bodies can work more closely on issues that have implications for multiple jurisdictions. Together we work with national regulators, governments, stakeholders, and with other international bodies, such as the IFAC.

In this way, ICAEW is able to provide real leadership on key issues that are important to our members.
