This lecture will cover some of those issues that can create ‘last minute’ problems for auditors and will give tips on how to plan for them and deal with them effectively.
The session will cover a number of those ‘wrapping up the audit’ issues and in particular will provide practical guidance on:
- Planning the end of the audit right from the start
- Where there are tricky accounting estimates, dealing effectively with the impact of ISA 540
- Post balance sheet events and meeting the requirements of ISA 560
- Obtaining written representations from management and how to use these for audit purposes in accordance with ISA 580
- Complying with the requirements of ISA 570 ongoing concern and how in practice to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence
- Reviewing the file and closing down issues efficiently
Practical examples will be used throughout the session to illustrate the issues being explored and the session is likely to be of particular interest to SME auditors.

Chris worked at Grant Thornton on a range of audit clients from SMEs through to listed companies before moving into a training role. He has significant experience in leading the design, development and delivery of technical training across a wide range of topics.
