ICAEW and IoD North East are pleased to introduce the new series of Director Development Breakfast seminars.  Subjects to be covered include The Role of the Chairman, The Role of the Chief Executive and The Role of the Finance Director.

Why you should attend

We are delighted to welcome speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds who will talk about their experience in their day to day role in their own particular work environment.  Each session will include a question and answer session.   The events will be facilitated by Alastair Thomson – Chairman, IoD North East and Keith Proudfoot – Regional Director, ICAEW Northern. 

Breakfast is included in the price.  Places are limited, please book early to avoid disappointment.

    Lilian Mains

    Lilian started Zodiac Training Limited  in 1996. Zodiac now employs in excess of 120 staff and is growing from strength to strength.

    Zodiac specialises in work force development and works with young people between the ages of 14 -19 in schools, trains apprentices in the workplace and delivers a wide range of Vocational Qualifications.

    Zodiac also works with unemployed people of all ages to help find them suitable employment.

    Lilian recruited a Managing Director in 2009 to replace her and she is now Chair of the company although still takes a hands on approach to the supporting the growth and development of the company.


    Tanya Garland, Cool Blue

    Tanya Garland launched Cool Blue in 1999. The agency’s clients range from FTSE 100 companies such as Unilever and Johnson Matthey to well-known national and regional brands.

    Cool Blue employs 18 staff across two offices and enjoys the benefit of an in-house specialist digital, social media and design teams.

    The agency also works with a small number of trusted specialist associates including a London-based public affairs adviser, a London based lobbyist, documentary film-makers and nationally acclaimed photographers.


    Nicki Clark, Chief Operating Officer, Business and Enterprise Group

    Nicki has responsibility for BE Group’s operations function, the Investment Centre and leads on development and implementation of new key initiatives.

    Her previous experience has been in international sales, marketing, new product development, retail banking and general business development.

    Lee Perkins, Managing Director, Small Business Division, Sage UK Ltd

    Lee started with Sage UK in July 2011.  He is the managing director of Sage UK’s Small Business Division which has over 1000 people based almost entirely in the UK office of Newcastle upon Tyne.

    Prior to joining Sage from 2008 to 2011 Lee was Country Manager of the UK and Ireland for Computer 2000.

    David Clarke, Sales and Marketing Manager, DFDS Seaways

    David has over 16 years experience in B2C and B2B marketing strategy and development. He joined DFDS Seaways in January 2012 as Head of Marketing to drive the multi-channel marketing activity of the UK operation.

    With a strong focus on digital and CRM, he has developed and delivered marketing communications in highly competitive sectors such as retail, travel and professional services.


    Tanya Garland, Cool Blue

    Tanya Garland launched Cool Blue in 1999. Operating nationally, its clients include Unilever, Johnson Matthey, Huntsman, Tempur, Barker & Stonehouse, Kromek, Nonlinear Dynamics and Newcastle University.
    Offering PR, design and digital skills, Cool Blue is one of the very few agencies nationally to have truly integrated social media in its campaigns.

    Cool Blue has been ranked as the UK’s number 1 PR agency by marketing commentator Drum (as well as being ranked in the UK’s top 20 for combined design, marketing and PR services).

    Following university Tanya joined Hill & Knowlton in London, where she became European Account Director.

    Tanya was shortlisted for the North East Business Executive of the Year in 2009.
