The Accountancy Profession Strategic Forum (APSF) was initially conceived by ICAEW following discussions with professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe. These discussions identified many common challenges and, above all, a common interest in sharing experience and developing strategic thinking.
The APSF has since generated wider geographical interest. It helps participating PAOs identify common challenges, share experience and strategic thinking, and identify potential forms of cooperation, such as Working Group and network initiatives. The APSF encourages proactive strategic planning and innovation among professional accountancy organisations so that they continue to be relevant and contribute to market needs and the public interest. It is based on a partnership approach and holds an annual meeting organised by ICAEW with host PAOs.
The APSF pursues an open and constructive discussion and the format is designed specifically to encourage active engagement by all participants. An annual activity review is published and circulated to attendees and other parties.
Building on previous years’ annual meetings, 2016 saw the new and innovative Quality Assurance Network initiatives established, with APSF participants pooling resources to develop practical international cooperation in the important areas of quality assurance for non-PIE audits and for accountancy services providers.
