Study routes and costs

The ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (ICAEW CFAB) is a business and finance certificate-level qualification consisting of six exam modules: Business and Finance, Law, Accounting, Management Information, Assurance and Principles of Taxation.

Each module is examined by computer-based assessment and is available throughout the year at approved test centres in many countries around the world.

Study options

ICAEW CFAB study routes are very flexible - simply choose a study option to suit your preferred learning style and existing commitments. You can choose to have the same study route for all of your modules or you can opt for different learning styles on a module-by-module basis.

Classroom tuition

Face-to-face learning with experienced tutors allows you to ask questions and network with your peers. There are a number of approved tuition providers for you to choose from and learning materials are normally included in your course fee if you opt for classroom tuition.

Distance learning

If you are unable to attend classes, but would value the support of a tutor and peer-to-peer learning, distance learning offers a mix of tutor sessions and self-study support, and is offered by a number of tuition providers.

Online learning

This option is similar to distance learning, but is delivered online through live and recorded tuition sessions. This learning option uses online materials and resources that can be accessed anywhere in the world. A number of tuition providers offer this option.

Self-study

This study route allows you to study for the ICAEW CFAB qualification on your own. This means you could study ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business from the comfort of your living room, kitchen table or when you’re on the train. You can study the ICAEW CFAB course material in your own time to fit your studies around other commitments. You’ll need to buy the learning materials directly from our distributors, Gillards.

Blended learning

Alternatively, you may choose the learning option you prefer on a module-by-module basis, depending on the level of support you feel you need.

Learning materials

You must use the latest edition of the ICAEW CFAB learning materials throughout your studies. As an example, if you intend to sit an assessment exam in 2013, you must use the 2013 learning materials for that module. The learning materials for each module consist of study manual and question bank.
