What is the Cass Business School DChA study route?

This course will provide you with an in-depth knowledge of specialist charity accounting, audit and taxation, and the distinctive techniques for financial management and investment management within charitable and other voluntary organisations. It is designed to give you a practical application in the workplace, so you can implement your new skills straight away.

Cass Business School DChA study route at a glance

Entry requirements The course is ideal if you are looking to develop or progress your skills in charity accounting and financial management, it is open to:
  • graduates (generally 2:1 or higher in an appropriate subject)
  • individuals with equivalent professional qualifications and a minimum 3 years' relevant experience
What's involved?

The curriculum consists of seven modules: four present a comprehensive understanding of the voluntary sector; and three specialist modules provide in-depth training in charity finance and accounting.

What will I receive upon completion? You will be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Charity Accounting and Financial Management from Cass Business School. You can then apply for the DChA and with it the entitlement to use the DChA designation.

You will also receive free Charity and Voluntary Sector Group subscription for up to 12 months (for new subscribers only) and the opportunity to join an online register of award holders.
Exemptions / credits
  • ICAEW members who have either five years' experience or can demonstrate relevant CPD are eligible for exemptions from the resource management module and, if you have the necessary experience, the shadowing/fieldwork exercise.
  • You will automatically gain exemption for 30 of the 120 credits for the Postgraduate Diploma, and your professional experience will be assessed against a potential exemption of a further 20 credits.
