About us

The Manchester Institute of Chartered Accountants was founded by twelve good men and true on 12 December 1870 at a meeting at the Clarence Hotel.  It is one of the four Founding Societies of the ICAEW.

Manchester Society of Chartered Accountants (MSCA) is a membership body for circa 5,300 ICAEW Chartered Accountants and over 600  ACA students who work across business and the finance profession in the Greater Manchester area.  Today our ICAEW members work across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

How Manchester Society supports

Manchester Society is a member organisation and we aim to both support our ICAEW Chartered Accountant members and ACA students in the Manchester areas as well as supporting ICAEW national initiatives. We also aim to represent the views of members in the area to ICAEW in London.

Manchester Society is made up of Office Holders; a President and supported by a Deputy President, Vice President, Honorary Treasurer, Honorary Secretary and other members of the General Committee. The Office Holders and members of the General Committee are ICAEW members who undertake their role in a voluntary capacity to support their membership body. They receive no remuneration for the time that they contribute to MSCA.

We are pleased to have strong links with other professional organisations in the area. We also act as a link between the ICAEW in Moorgate Place and members in the district. We are always keen to hear from members who wish to become more involved with our work.
