The South Eastern Society of Chartered Accountants has over 9,000 members, the largest membership outside of London and covers the counties of Kent; East and West Sussex; and the Southern part of Surrey (less Redhill and Reigate which are in the Croydon District Society)

Town groups

SESCA town groups centre on the major towns in the area

They provide members locally with cost effective CPD, as well as a valuable forum for discussion and networking.

There are currently 3 active town groups:

Guildford Town Group

The Guildford Town Group of SESCA provides a programme of evening lectures on subjects of topical and practical importance covering tax, legal and accounting issues affecting accountants in practice, business, charities and education.

A light buffet is available before each lecture to meet, talk and explore networking opportunities.

Lectures, which generally run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, are held at the University of Surrey once a month from September to May. Download further details of 2012 lectures (PDF).

Brighton & Hove Town Group

The group arranges evening lectures on technical issues. The lectures are generally held at the West Hove Golf Club and include an optional meal beforehand. Download further details of 2012 lectures (Word).

Mid Kent Town Group

A local group servicing all accountants in the Mid Kent catchment areas providing a training and discussion group facility and forum for the ICAEW to contact local practices

Business members group (BMG)

The aim of our BMG is to provide a networking community as well as support for business members (e.g MD FD FC .. of SME companies PLCs,...) within SESCA.

Ara Martirossian is the BMG representative on the main SESCA committee. He is the MD of a Sussex based SME company and is responsible for communicating the needs of the BMG members to the committee and for planning the events for the coming year. If you have any thoughts or suggestions for topics for future events please let him know. He can be contacted at ara@red-it.co.uk.

Meetings are held on a regular basis with guest speakers on topical issues decided upon by members.

Student Society

Welcome to the South Eastern Chartered Accountant Students’ Society (SECASS). As an ACA student, you automatically join SECASS free of charge because your registered home address falls within our catchment area.

What we do:

The ICAEW Student Council (ISC) provides student groups including SECASS with quarterly funds to help student society member’s progress through their training by holding events, networking opportunities and seminars.

We are always looking for other students to help run the society and have roles available from local firm reps to committee members.

The South Eastern Society of Chartered Accountants (SESCA) organises a variety of events for members, from Annual Dinners and Networking Golf challenges, to discussions and CPD courses through either our local Town Groups or our course provider SESCA Enterprises Limited. The SE Society also represents the interests of Chartered Accountants within the South Eastern district.
