We organise a range of services for members including a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development (CPD) courses as well as a business awards dinner and other social events. We also have a number of flourishing town groups enabling members to network and discuss issues with other members locally. We also represent the interests of chartered in accountants in the district to the wider business community.

There are three active Town Groups within the Society's area:
This group meets on the penultimate Wednesday of each month, excepting January.
Technical cd roms from Lexis Nexis are watched and the group then discuss issues from the cd roms and from their own practices.
New members are always welcome.
This group organises local social and technical events for its members.

The South Essex Society of Chartered Accountants was formed as a Branch of the London Society in 1968. It became a District Society in 1974. It covers the following area:
The society runs a comprehensive programme of continuing professional development courses, which are complimented by those run by its three town groups, Highams Park, Southend-on-Sea and South West Essex. A business awards dinner, charity ball and other social events are also included in our programme of events for local members.

Her role is to work with the society's committees to deliver the ICAEW strategy locally. This includes providing an evolving programme of technical and social events.
