The ICAEW Middle East regional office opened in 2009 and is based in DIFC, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
We cover the following countries: the UAE Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan.
The key focus of the office is to support ICAEW’s wider international strategy – to ensure the highest standards within the accountancy and finance profession and to raise the profile of the profession.
Across the region ICAEW Middle East provides support to over 1,200 members and students, and works closely with governments, regulators, key stakeholders and other professional bodies.
Recent activities range from the launch of the ICAEW Emiratisation scholarship scheme to attract local Emiratis into the profession, signing an MoU with the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi, and supporting authorised training organisations and partners in learning delivering tuition in the region.
ICAEW also assists the DFSA with audit quality monitoring, responds to various consultation papers on proposed changes to financial structures and regulations, and produces a series of economic insights, and thought leadership and technical events for both members and non-members, within the GCC.
Michael G. W. Armstrong, FCA is the current Regional Director for the Middle East and joined the ICAEW in 2014. He is responsible for engaging with business across the region, supporting ICAEW members, working with governments on public finance and accountancy matters and continuing to encourage the growth of strong national professional accountancy organisations which will provide attractive careers for citizens.
Michael is supported by five seasoned professionals in the field of marketing and business development each contributing to the expansion of ICAEW’s presence in the Middle East.
