Strategic partnership degrees

ICAEW is working closely with a number of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to provide unique options to students in pursuit of a premier professional accountancy qualification.

Students will have the opportunity to fast track towards the ACA or CFAB qualification while completing their degree or post graduate course.

These strategic partnerships provide excellent benefits for both students and employers, and are therefore highly desirable programmes for ambitious individuals.

Details of the partnerships currently available are listed below.

Undergraduate Partnership Programme (UPP)

This is an exciting new programme that provides students the potential opportunity to gain work experience in a professional accountancy firm or a business environment during the third year of study.

PwC

Henley Business School BA (Hons) Accounting & Business

PwC offers students an accelerated route to employment and an accountancy qualification through a new degree programme. This new degree is in partnership with Henley Business School at the University of Reading and the professional accountancy body, ICAEW.

Newcastle University BA Business Accounting & Finance

Unique programme that offers a combination of studying towards a BA honours degree, paid work placement at PwC and accelerated progress towards the ACA.

Tsinghua University Flying Start Programme

Unique programme that offers a combination of studying towards a BA honours degree, work placement at PwC and accelerated progress towards the ACA.

CASS Business School Bsc (Hons) Accounting & Finance

An exciting new programme which gives students the opportunity to achieve credit for prior learning for a maximum of eight modules and a further opportunity to sit further ICAEW exams, as well as an integrated placement year with an ICAEW Authorised Training Employer. Students will therefore leave the programme with a highly marketable finance, business and accounting knowledge, experience, and possibly complete 80% of the ACA exams.

KPMG School Leavers’ Programme

KPMG is working with Durham University and ICAEW to develop a ground-breaking new school leavers’ programme for September 2011. The innovative proposal is for an initial intake of around 75 students, who will start a six year programme with the firm, leading to both a Durham University degree and a professional chartered accountancy qualification from ICAEW.

Leeds University Business School BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance

A recently revised programme offers the rigorous technical and highly developed academic skills associated with a world class research-led institution, as well as up to eight professional exam exemptions and a year’s work experience. Working in conjunction with the ICAEW the programme also provides the high-level communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills that leading employers demand.

Manchester Metropolitan University Professional Accounting

A new flexible part-time programme introduced by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), ICAEW and Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU). The programme is designed to widen participation in higher education. This unique partnership will lead to an Honours and a Masters degree, as well as the AAT and ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualifications, dependent on the experience level of the student.

Newcastle University Postgraduate Diploma

An exciting new programme that leads to the award of two related qualifications: Graduate Diploma from Newcastle University and Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business from ICAEW.

UWE Bristol BSc (Hons) Professional Accounting

UWE Bristol (The University of the West of England, Bristol) in partnership with ICAEW and SWAT UK has created an exciting new programme that integrates AAT and ACA professional qualifications and a BSc (Hons) degree while working in accountancy practice.

Further learning

For those students who have already commenced their ACA training, but are looking to further their learning, we also offer the opportunity for them to ‘top up’ their education with degree level accredited programmes.

Birkbeck, University of London BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting and Business

This new partnership between Birkbeck, University of London and ICAEW allows ACA students to study for an honours degree in Applied Accounting and Business in parallel with ACA training, without having to take extra time off work, at around half the usual cost.
