KPMG expands financial services strategy team

Paul Merrey has joined KPMG as a director in its financial services strategy team within the transactions and restructuring business. Most recently, he was head of strategy and corporate development at Prudential.

He joins KPMG's strategy practice to focus on working with insurance chief executives on strategic responses to issues such as Solvency II, transformational growth and M&A.

During eleven years at the Prudential, Merrey held a variety of roles across the group including within its US subsidiary Jackson National Life, the firm’s US insurance operations and Egg, the online bank founded by Prudential.  He worked closely on a number of Prudential's M&A and strategy initiatives, including the sale of Egg to Citi, as well as business development activities, such as forging distribution partnerships with banks.

Prior to Prudential, Paul worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Barclays Bank.  Paul is a qualified chartered accountant and holds a MBA from Warwick Business School and a Bachelors degree from Oxford University.
