ICAEW on track to become an accredited body

ICAEW’s accredited body proposition will be targeted at accountants and others that work under the control of members and member firms. It will be structured in a way that is consistent with the new regulatory requirements and existing obligations under ICAEW’s well-established code of professional ethics.

The RDR's focus on raising professional standards plays to the traditional strengths of the accountancy model. As an accredited body ICAEW will be positioned to provide more support to individual members and raise the profile of member firms that deliver regulated financial and investment advice.

The final eligibility rules are currently being drafted, but from Q1 2012 ICAEW should be able to accept applications for its SPS from individuals in the following categories of membership:
