Mandatory Carbon Reporting

In June 2012, the UK Government announced that greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting would become mandatory for quoted UK companies and would potentially be broadened to all large companies by 2016.

  • Draft greenhouse gas reporting regulations were announced on 25 July 2012, with consultation until 17 October 2012. You can read our response here.
  • Regulations came into effect for quoted UK companies on 1 October 2013, for company reporting years ending on or after 30 September 2013.

ICAEW has developed a series of educational webinars which explore various themes associated with greenhouse gas reporting. These were run in partnership with other organisations such as the Carbon Trust, IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) and CloudApps.
