Frank Haskew BSc (Eng) ACGI ACA ATII

Frank joined the Tax Faculty technical team in January 1998 and is now head of the Tax Faculty with executive responsibility for the Tax Faculty's various activities

Frank sits on the faculty's management committee and has executive responsibility both for the provision of member services and also the technical output of the faculty.

Frank qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1987 and immediately specialised in tax consultancy. Frank continues to be deeply involved with technical issues, particularly the PBR and Budget submissions, and the tax aspects of UITF40.

Frank is a past editor of TAXline and TAXline Tax Practice, the Tax Faculty's monthly magazine and supplement and past co-editor of the Tax Faculty's annual publication, TAXline Tax Planning. He continues to write for these publications. He also has overall executive responsibility for the Tax Faculty's website.

Peter Bickley BSc FCA CTA

Peter is a technical manager in the Tax Faculty

Peter qualified as a chartered accountant in 1981 and has specialised in taxation since 1983, dealing with both personal and corporate taxes.

He is involved in making representations to government departments on direct and indirect taxation matters including employment taxes & NIC, inheritance tax & trusts and VAT, anti-money laundering insofar as it relates to taxation and the tax law rewrite.

He also contributes to the ICAEW Members Handbook guidance on professional conduct in relation to taxation.

Neil Gaskell AIIT

Neil is a part time manager responsible for VAT

Neil joined the Tax Faculty technical team in February 2007 to look after VAT issues, having been the ICAEW's in-house Tax Manager since November 2005. He now does both jobs on a part time basis.

Neil has VAT experience gained in industry, the accountancy profession and the former HM Customs & Excise, where he started his VAT career in 1980 as a VAT control officer. After ten years in this role, he moved to Price Waterhouse as a VAT consultant before becoming VAT Accountant at East Midlands Electricity in 1993.

In 1997 he joined Deloitte & Touche as a VAT Manager before moving into the role of Group Indirect Tax Manager at The Big Food Group, including Booker Cash & Carry and Iceland Foods, from July 1999 until his move to the ICAEW.

Anita Monteith BSc FCA CTA

Past chairman of the ICAEW Tax Faculty, and a member of the faculty main committee from 1992 to 2001, Anita was also editor of TAXline for 5 years and joint editor of TAXline Tax Planning

Anita is currently the technical manager responsible for tax matters affecting small and medium sized businesses including responding to government consultations. She is also one of the joint editors of the Tax Faculty's weekly newswire.

Anita qualified as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, working in both tax and audit. In 1983 she joined Financial Training Ltd, where she became a director and national director of studies at the final level. She continues to advise on practical tax matters as well as lecturing and contributing to major tax journals on topical issues.

Anita is a regular speaker and chairperson at conferences and appears frequently on television and radio talking about tax.

Jane Moore MA FCA ATII

Jane is the editor of TAXline and co-editor of TAXline Tax Planning

She is also one of the three editors of the Tax Faculty’s weekly newswire, along with Anita Monteith and Ian Young.

Jane’s particular areas of technical interest include personal tax, self assessment and tax credits; and enquiries, investigations and tax appeals. She has recently been much involved in the review of HMRC’s powers and taxpayers’ rights.

Before joining the Tax Faculty team in January 2004, Jane was technical director of the charity TaxAid. She also has wide experience of work in professional practice, in both large and medium-sized firms. She is a member of the low incomes tax reform group and of the tax law review committee of the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

She writes for the professional press, edits the Daily Mail Tax Guide, and appears regularly on BBC Radio 4's Moneybox.

Philippa Stedman BSc ACA

Philippa is the manager responsible for providing support to general practitioners

Philippa has a particular interest in personal tax and in the practical issues relating to workings of the tax system. Her work involves liaising with practitioners and HMRC.

Before joining the Tax Faculty in 2006, Philippa had her own tax practice in London for 16 years specialising in small business and personal tax.

She qualified with PWC and has worked for both medium and small sized firms.

Angela Williams BSc FCA CTA

Angela is a part time technical manager responsible for personal tax

Angela has a wide range of practical experience which covers the range and interaction of taxes affecting individuals, families and owner-managed businesses. She is also interested in practical issues affecting taxpayers and their agents. She joined the Tax Faculty in May 2008 and is responsible for the Personal Tax and Finance Committee.

Angela started her tax career as a tax trainee with Arthur Andersen & Co in London in 1982, qualifying as an ACA in 1986 before moving to KPMG in 1987 to work in their Guildford Office Tax Department. In 1993 she set up her own tax practice which she has now run for 15 years.

Ian Young BA FCA FRSA

Ian is manager, international tax in the Tax Faculty

Ian is in charge of the Tax Faculty thought leadership programme and is on the fiscal committee of CFE (Conféderation Fiscale Europeenne) as well as the direct tax working group of FEE (Féderation des Experts Comptables Européens).

He also assists in editing TAXline Tax Planning. With Anita Monteith and Jane Moore he is responsible for the Weekly TAXline News Email.

Ian is the editor of Inland Revenue Practices and Concessions a 4 volume loose leaf reference work which is published by Thomson/Gee. He was previously a tax partner with BDO Stoy Hayward.

Chrissie O’Connor

Chrissie joined the faculty in September 2002 and is now our operations manager

Chrissie has a background in communications, having worked in the City as a communications and events manager at NatWest. She has worked extensively in entertainment, acting and producing a variety of shows for both theatre and corporate entertainment.

Chrissie is responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the faculty supporting Frank in matters of administration and internal initiatives.

She heads up the Tax Faculty’s administration team and provides secretariat to the management and Tax Faculty committees.

Zoë Jeakins

Zoë joined the faculty in September 1999 as services manager

Zoe comes from a background of communications, print and design work having spent the previous 3 year's working within the Institute's communications department.

Zoë is responsible for delivering the faculty's range of services to its membership. This includes the organisation of the faculty's annual residential conference, the annual Hardman lecture and Wyman debate, along with the production of the TAXline range of publications and administration of the referral scheme.

She is heavily involved with the faculty's marketing initiatives.

Nina Turner

Nina joined the Tax Faculty as administrator in 1995, and provides a comprehensive front line service for enquiries

Nina provides clerical support for a range of faculty work and she is also responsible for administrating the faculty's events and looking after the faculty's new members.

She is also involved with the faculty’s younger members tax club.

Pat Hollamby

Pat has worked in the Tax Faculty for the past 10 years, on a part-time basis as faculty technical administrator and DTP editor

Pat provides assistance to the team and is responsible for the faculty's corporate members and providing them with their monthly mailings.

She also provides the faculty with her design and typesetting skills and is involved in the publication of the Tax Faculty's TAXline series of publications.
