Information for Better Markets

Information for Better Markets is the ICAEW Financial Reporting Faculty’s thought leadership initiative. 

The Faculty’s plans are set out in its Information for Better Markets prospectus. The work will focus on three key areas: disclosure, measurement and regulation.

 

P D Leake Lecture 2009

The PD Leake Lecture for 2009 will be given by Professor Michael Power of the London School of Economics on the subject of ‘Fair value: the influence of financial economics on accounting’. The lecture will be given at Chartered Accountants’ Hall on the evening of Thursday, 15 October.

Information for Better Markets Conference 2009

The 2009 Information for Better Markets Conference will be on the theme of ‘Who should lead corporate reporting: markets or regulators?’ It will be held at Chartered Accountants’ Hall on 14-15 December, and will include sessions on:

  • The political economy of regulation
  • Different approaches to corporate reporting regulation: how jurisdictions differ and why
  • The pros and cons of regulating corporate reporting: a critical review of the arguments
  • How do conceptual frameworks contribute to the quality of financial reporting regulation?
