President: Clive Rusden FCA
Clive specialises in corporate finance, professional partnerships, especially dental practices, and advises owner managed businesses in accountancy and taxation matters. With a father who is a retired dentist, he is well placed to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the dental profession. Clive has been involved in substantial financial acquisitions and disposals.
Clive is a true Dorset man having been educated at Durlston Court and subsequently Canford School in Wimborne. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983, having trained at Willis Parsons. He obtained further experience working in industry as well as with other ‘Big Four’ professional accountancy practices KPMG, Ernst & Young and Deloittes, before joining Princecroft Redman as a Partner in August 1994. Princecroft Redman merged with Willis Parsons in 2005 to become Princecroft Willis.
Clive lives in Mudeford, Christchurch with his wife Saron, who is also an ICAEW member and practising accountant, and his three children Clare, William and James. His leisure interests include sailing, skiing and golf.

Deputy President: Ian Davies MBA FCA CF
Ian trained with Ernst & Whinney in London, and having been active in student societies he was elected as President of ACASS in 1979, and helped to persuade the Institute to require a minimum registerable salary for training contracts.
After qualifying in 1980, he served on the Education and Training Directorate of the Institute until being posted to overseas for 3 years. After completing an MBA at Cranfield he joined Coopers & Lybrand in Southampton and then opened the firm’s Kuwait office as a partner in 1991.
On his return to the UK, Ian joined Rothman Pantall & Co and became a member of the Southern Society District TAC, and has served on the National Technical Advisory Committee since 1994. Ian is also a member of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants, and a member of the Membership Committee. In 2007 he was granted the ICAEW Corporate Finance qualification, and in June this year, Ian became a member of Council of the ICAEW.
Ian was a Visiting Fellow at Cranfield University for seven years, in the Department of Strategic Management specialising in corporate governance and the role of non-executive directors. He has served on the Professional Accreditation Board of the Institute of Directors, introducing the Chartered Director qualification and assessment and vetting processes.
In business he is the Chairman of a non-executive director recruitment company, and is also a non-executive director and Audit Committee chairman of a small cap listed company, an international maritime business, and a Foundation Trust.

Vice President: Henry Flint BSc FCA
Henry graduated from Reading University with a BSc (Honours) Degree in Building, Construction and Management before qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1988.
Henry’s most recent position was as Group Finance Director and Company Secretary of Dean & Dyball, an independent construction and property group where, amongst other things, he planned, negotiated and managed the sale of the Dean & Dyball Group to Balfour Beatty plc last year. Prior to Dean & Dyball, he was Finance Director of Hammerson UK Properties Plc (1992-1997) and Greys Group Ltd (1997-1999), both property companies. He is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Henry is married with three children. He lives in Salisbury and includes sailing, diving, shooting and residential property development among his interests. He is also an active fundraiser for local causes.

Immediate Past President: Norman Armstrong FCA BSc
Norman is a Partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP where he is Head of Assurance for the South Central Region. Norman's principal focus is on providing sound, independent assurance and financial reporting services as well as commercial insight in assisting shareholders and management teams achieve their business objectives. His portfolio includes companies listed on the main market, AIM and a number of privately owned groups.
Following a degree in Geography from St Andrews University, Norman qualified with Ernst & Young in Manchester, his home town, and was admitted to the Institute in 1996. He moved to London in 1997 working initially in Ernst & Young's National office and then, following a 6 month secondment in industry, he joined their Entrepreneural Services Team. He moved to Grant Thornton Southampton in 2003 in the hope of spending more time sailing his 1720 called "Storm"! Norman now lives in Winchester with his wife, Karen and daughter, Harriett, and has no time for sailing!
Norman is Chairman of the SOSCA Southampton Town Group and Chairman of aspex, www.aspex.org.uk, a contemporary art gallery located in Portsmouth.
