SME Funding Adviser Scheme
The SME Funding Adviser Scheme is a new initiative from the Institute to separately identify member firms which provide independent advice on business finance.
The UK government wants to encourage entrepreneurship and has introduced a number of initiatives to increase the choice of finance for start-up and growth businesses.
The Institute has been working with government to ensure businesses have access to a wide choice of independent professional advisers across the UK on a whole range of business finance options.
This new scheme will help Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to identify ICAEW member firms which are able to offer advice on business finance options.
Firm's offering this advice will be listed free of charge in a special section of the Institute's online Directory of Firms from January 2007
To help small businesses, we are establishing a link from the Finance and Grants page of the businesslink.gov website (the government's main source of web-based general business advice) directly to the ICAEW Directory of Firms, in which your flagged entry will appear.
To join this free scheme, all ICAEW member firms will be sent a form to complete, identifying their finance specialisations as part of the Directory of Firms annual entry form. The specialisations covered by the scheme are described in the SME Funding Advisor Scheme Specialisations section.
Some of the specialisations may require a firm to be authorised or registered under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. For detailed guidance on this, download the Guidance on Investment Business regulations.
