The Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA) course is run by the world renowned Cass Business School, which has its own Centre for Charity Effectiveness to bring you the very best expertise in the sector.

The curriculum consists of 8 modules:

  • Introduction to learning
  • Voluntary sector policy
  • Resource management
  • Marketing and fundraising
  • Strategy, diversity and governance
  • Shadowing/fieldwork exercise
  • Advanced charity accounting/audit and taxation
  • Voluntary sector financial management

Credits towards course modules

If you are an ICAEW member and have either qualified in the last five years or can demonstrate relevant CPD you will be eligible for exemptions from the resource management module and, if you have the necessary experience, the shadowing/fieldwork exercise, giving you up to 50 credits against the 130-credit programme.

Minimum entry requirements

The following people may apply for the Diploma in Charity Accounting:

  • ICAEW members
  • Graduates (generally 2:1 or higher in an appropriate subject) 
  • Individuals with equivalent professional qualifications or a minimum 3 years relevant experience

When and where will you take the course?

The course is normally a 12-month programme starting in October and will be held at Cass Business School, London once a month on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. 

What if you are eligible for exemptions?

If you are eligible for exemptions (see above) your course will run from April to December.
