Making information systems work

The Making Information Systems Work programme looks at how technology has transformed the way we do business and interact with each other. It studies the challenges businesses face to implement new information systems, as they become ever more complex.

What does the programme cover?

The Making Information Systems Work programme is based on three themes:

  • Value: the economic case for IT investment
  • Trust: a secure environment to transfer information
  • Standards: a sound technical basis for the exchange of information between parties

Measuring IT returns

Measuring IT returns addresses the theme of value, and considers the challenges faced by many businesses in applying financial analysis to IT investment opportunities.

In doing so, it aims to help businesses apply such techniques more meaningfully, thereby improving decision making and implementation in practice.

Why is Making Information Systems Work important?

Implementing new information systems affect the whole business, not just IT. It requires engagement from all across the organisation in the effective management and use of technology.
