Who can use the Library & Information Service (LIS)?

ICAEW members and students

Members and registered students of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) automatically have access to a wealth of online databases via the LIS website, can use the Library's services and visit the Library.

Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) members

Reciprocal arrangements are in place so members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland (ICAS) and Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) can use the Library. This includes the enquiry service, book loans and document supply service but excludes access to online resources that are behind the member login.

ACT members and students

Members and registered students of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) can use the Library & Information Service. For further details, see the ACT Library website.

IFA members and students

Members and registered students of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) can use the Library & Information Service. For further details, see the IFA Library website.

Members of GAA institutes based in the UK

Members of the GAA Institutes based in the UK can use the book loan and document delivery services from the ICAEW Library & Information Service. For further details, see the GAA Members in the UK page.

Non-members

Non-members have access to a range of resources free of charge via the Library website, including the catalogue, LibCat.

Non-members can visit the Library by:-

1. Letter of introduction

2. Payment of daily/weekly fee

If you cannot obtain a letter of introduction and you have a valid need to visit the Library for research, you can pay a daily/weekly fee, currently set at £15+VAT per day, £30+VAT for the week. Payment can be made in person by cash, cheque with guarantee card or credit card (we accept VISA, Mastercard, Masetro or Delta). Please note, undergraduate students are not able to visit the Library under this arrangement.

3. Special permission

If you feel that there are special circumstances that apply to your need for access you can to write to the Head of Library & information Services explaining why you would like to visit Library. Each application is considered individually.

Undergraduate Students

If you are an undergraduate student, you have access to a range of resources free of charge via the Library website, including the catalogue, LibCat.

We can loan books through the inter library loan scheme (UK only). Please make all requests through your university library.

We can supply photocopies (within copyright law and subject to our charges) to non members (including undergraduates) where you provide references for the material you require. Where you cannot provide references, we will additionally charge a research fee. You can of course use LibCat (our online catalogue) to trace material.
