Amendments

Thomson McLintock 1877 not Thomson, McLintock 1877
Thomson McLintock & Co 1901 not Thomson, McLintock & Co 1901

Note 2 Accountants' Incorporation Association not Accountants' Incorporation association

The early history of Armitage & Norton is: Charles Payne c 1868; Chadwick & Armitage pre-1879; Armitage, Clough & Co 1880 (Chartered Accountants in England and Wales: A Guide to Historical Records, Wendy Habgood (ed), Manchester University Press, 1994).

Thomas, Wade & Guthrie started in practice together in 1875 either under that name or as Thomas, Wade, Guthrie & Co; the latter name had certainly been adopted by 1877 (The Accountants' Directory 1877, Alfred C Harper (ed), Williams & Strahan, 1877).
