Business continuity guide for small businesses - A guide to Business Continuity Management (BCM) for small firms is one in a series of AXA risk management guides.
Business Continuity - A basic guide on business continuity management from the UK Cabinet Office, containing a definition of BCM, an outline of why is it important, who is involved, and the principles and processes of developing a plan. Includes a selection of links to key documents.
How businesses can prepare for emergencies provides government advice for businesses of all sizes through the Directgov website. Contains general advice on BCM, information how you can prepare your business for emergencies, which specific risks may affect your area and case studies of businesses which coped with a disaster effectively due to their business continuity arrangements.
Business Continuity Institute (BCI) - The BCI aims to "promote the highest standards of professional competence and commercial ethics in the provision and maintenance of business continuity planning and services." The site includes a number of certifications standards and a listing of BCM guides. You can download Good Practice Guidelines (free registration required).
Business Continuity Management (BSI) - information on Business Continuity Management publications from the BSI Group, the UK's National Standards Body, including the standard BS 25999 for BCM.
Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) - official website for the organisation formed in 2007 with a remit to provide security advice as 'part of government strategy to disrupt threats to national security'. The site includes information on business continuity planning.
Business Security Survey 2004 - an executive summary (PDF, 28 pages 568KB) of the results of the CBI/QinetiQ Business Security Survey conducted in 2004. The results were announced in a CBI press release on 7th November 2004. The report addressed the attitudes of 100 CBI member companies and reported on their concerns, namely business continuity, detecting and responding to threats and the adequacy of current plans.
Expecting the Unexpected - Guide published in 2003 by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), London First and the Business Continuity Institute which advises on business continuity in the event and aftermath of an emergency. (PDF 201kb/32 pages).
Secure in the knowledge - a 2005 publication (PDF 2,635kb/48 pages ) from London First written in conjunction with the NaCTSO and supported by the Security Service. The booklet offers advice for small and medium-sized businesses on how to improve business security and protect your staff, information and assets from terrorism.
Staying Safe at Work - Suggestions from the Home Office for sensible precautions and preventative steps that can be taken in the workplace.
UK Financial Sector Continuity - A central point of information about work on continuity planning relevant to the UK's financial sector, established by HM Treasury, the Bank of England and the Financial Services Authority. Access information about the authorities, firms, markets, and financial infrastructure as well as telecoms, communications and physical infrastructure. A good selection of quality links is included.
