Audit Committees - Combined Code Guidance - full text of the 2005 and 2008 versions of the guidance (also known as 'The Smith Report').

The Combined Code (FRC) - full text of the combined code (based on the recommendations set out in the Higgs Report) as published by the Financial Reporting Council on 23rd July 2003. The text (PDF 87 pages, 280 KB) includes the code itself and related guidance (the Turnbull guidance on Internal Control, the Smith guidance on Audit Committees and various items of good practice guidance from the Higgs Report).

Guidance for audit committees series - a series of titles published by the ICAEW in May 2003 aimed at helping non executive directors understand the proposals set out in the report of the FRC-appointed group chaired by Sir Robert Smith ?Audit Committees Combine Code Guidance?. The publications include one title specifically focused on 'Reviewing Auditor Independence'.

Guidance Notes (ICSA) - a full range of ICSA guidance notes that can be downloaded in full text, including three guidance notes on terms of reference for audit, nomination and remuneration committees that have been updated following the publication of the Higgs report and the associated report on audit committees:

Institute of Internal Auditors - corporate governance section of the IIA website which includes the IIA Smith research report into the role of internal audit following the Smith report.
UK Audit Committee Institute - website of the KPMG sponsored body created 'to serve audit committee members and help them to adapt to their changing role'. The site provides an online archive of the journal 'UK Audit Committee Quarterly', transcripts of roundtables, summaries of recent reports and an ACI toolkit. The toolkit includes:
