Tax Rates
Fiscal Facts (IFS) - a key website for historic comparisons of tax rates, and for 'A Survey of the UK Tax System' a 28 page overview of the changes in the UK taxation system over the last 20 years (which can be downloaded in pdf format). The site includes easy to use tables, detailing the main tax rates and thresholds for the current tax year, cross referenced with the historic rates. The historic rates are also listed separately, and include:
- Income Tax rates and limits 1973-
- Corporation Tax and allowances 1973-
- Personal Allowances 1973-
- VAT Rates 1973-
- Mortgage interest tax relief 1973-
- NI rates employed/self-employed 1975-
HMRC Rates and Allowances - rates and allowances for the current and previous tax years (covering Income Tax, Savings, Corporation Tax, National Insurance, Pensions, Exchange Rates, Capital Gains Tax, Travel, Stamp Duty, Inheritance Tax, Tax Credits, and Interest Rates).
HMRC Statistics - historic tax rate data from the Inland Revenue, including:
- Income Tax Personal Allowances and Reliefs, 1973/74-
- Rates of Capital Gains Tax, 1977/78-
- Rates of Corporation Tax, 1969-
- Rates of Capital Allowances 1978-
- Rates of Income Tax, 1984/85-
Valuation Office Agency - executive agency of the Inland Revenue with responsibility for business rates. The VOA holds information on their website about procedures, appeals, and a search facility to check the rateable value for business properties by postcode.

KPMG's Budget Rates and Allowances Card 2009/10 - tax card published by KPMG in April 2009.

Deloitte - Tax Rates and Allowances 2009/10 is available to download (PDF: 19 pages) on Deloitte's Budget 2009 site. Tax rates and allowances going back to 2002/03 are also available to download.

Tax Cards 2008-09
PLEASE NOTE on 13 May 2008 the Chancellor made a statement to the House of Commons, announcing an increase in the 2008/09 personal allowance and reduction in the higher rate threshold. The resources listed on this page may not have been updated to reflect the changes.

Direct taxes: rates and allowances 2008-09 - House of Commons Research Paper 13 March 2008.
