How to use the Library

Welcome to the ICAEW Library & Information Service (LIS)

Members and students of the IFA may use the services of the LIS. You have access to the whole collection of the Institute Library for both reference and where relevant loan.

Using Services (except Book Loans)

To use most services you do not have to join or register with the LIS. When you contact or visit us, please just state that you are an IFA user and give your IFA member or student number. If you do not identify yourself in this way, you may not be able to use the LIS or may be quoted non-member charges. Please see our statement about IFA usage of the LIS.

Visiting the Library

When you visit the Library, please sign our visitors book, writing IFA in the column headed company. You may of course ask the enquiry desk staff for any help you need in finding the information you need

Using the Loan Service

If you wish to borrow books you will have to register with the LIS. This is a quick procedure and you do not have to fill in any forms. It is best done the first time you borrow books and can be carried out if you visit the Library or over the phone. Please have your IFA member or student number available.

To use the loan service we ask you to agree to certain conditions of use. You can view these online and you will be given or posted a copy when you first borrow.

Charged Services

If you use a charged for service of the LIS, you will be asked to pay for it in advance. We accept credit and debit card payments (Mastercard, Visa, Maestro and Delta), cheques or cash. Many LIS services are free and if you do use a charged for service any charges will be agreed with you before you incur the charge.
