Mandation of āeā for in-year PAYE
Make sure your clients are ready for the change.
From 6 April 2009, employers with 50 or more employees must send starter and leaver information (forms P45, P46 and similar pension details) to HMRC online.
HMRC has indicated that a significant number of these employers may be unaware of the forthcoming change.
We understand that many accountants use a business model for payroll whereby clients do their own payrolls in-year, using their advisers to e-file the year end figures only.
We suggest that members take the opportunity to write to clients, reminding them they will soon need to send in-year PAYE information online too. Why not suggest starting to make online submissions sooner rather than later to get over any teething difficulties ahead of April 2009.
Under current Government proposals, employers with fewer than 50 employees will have to file their PAYE End of Year Return online from 6 April 2010 and PAYE in-year forms online from 6 April 2011.
