New agents registering for e-filing
You will need your self-assessment agent reference number
We have heard from some agents who have encountered an administrative problem while trying to register as an agent for online filing.
The HMRC website asks for the agent’s ‘self-assessment agent reference number’ or ‘PAYE agent reference number’, depending on which service you are registering for.
If you do not have a record of this, then either the online Services Helpdesk or the local area office should be able to help.
However, this has resulted in some members being passed backwards and forwards and to avoid frustration we have found that the Central Agent Authorisation Team in Longbenton (0845 9158582) is able to help.
