Some agents adversely affected by recent HMRC system upgrade

We heard this week from one of our members that since the recent HMRC update to its website, he has been unable to use any of their online filing (self assessment, corporation tax and PAYE) and VAT registration services. This has apparently been a problem for approximately the last two weeks.

Following numerous phone calls and complaints it seems that the agent’s user id is correct as he can log onto the Government Gateway site but the HMRC site states that the details are incorrect. No one knows why.

This is clearly serious where activation tokens for clients are expiring before they can be activated.

It now appears that around 60 agents may be similarly affected and we are assured that the problem should be resolved within the next two weeks.
