Work experience

Practical work experience is integral to gaining the Corporate Finance qualification (CFq). To successfully complete the qualification, students must have at least three year experience of working in corporate finance. This will ensure that work and study are brought together and the practical knowledge gained from the programme is transferred into the work place.

Work experience requirements

To qualify for the Corporate Finance qualification

  • You must have worked in corporate finance for at least the last three years
  • You should have gained significant and relevant transaction (deal) experience in that time. A minimum of 500 qualifying hours per years for the three year period is required
  • You should have had material involvement, in a leadership capacity, in at least three completed transaction/deals in the last three years
  • Development in the key capability areas of application of technical expertise, strategic advice, personal effectiveness
  • You should be able to demonstrate and commit to professional integrity

On successful completion of the Advanced Diploma, students will be required to provide evidence of work experience. The details of experience should be reported by the candidate and confirmed by a supervisor, colleague or client. Report of two referees should also be obtained, attesting to the candidates character and work in the corporate finance field.

Record keeping

When applying for the Corporate Finance qualification, you will be asked to provide documentation which supports and evidences that you have undertaken and completed the required work experience. Supporting evidence will generally be in following format
