Bolton Society appoints first female president
Kay Rayner, 38, an audit and accounts manager at Cassons chartered accountants and business advisers, is the first ever woman to take on the role of President for the Bolton Society and hopes to attract more women to join.
Kay said: “I feel extremely proud to be taking on this role and breaking the mould. There aren’t enough female accountants getting involved at this level, which is why I decided to take it on.
“I’m a busy working mum, who is constantly juggling my career and family life, so if I can do it, anyone can!”
Kay manages 12 staff based at Cassons’ Lancashire office, where her role is to liaise with clients and the partners to ensure that the accounts preparation and audit run smoothly.
To combat the stress of her hectic lifestyle, Kay, whose daughters are aged three and seven, heads to the gym or swimming pool – and regularly uses her love of fitness to raise money for charity.
Together with her husband Martin, she raised over £6,000 for Henshaw’s Society for the Blind by completing the millennium challenge in Borneo in March 2000. She also swam the equivalent of the English Channel for Aspire, completed the Great North Run for Bolton Lads and Girls Club, and has organised various events for Breast Cancer Care.

Her next task is to organise the Society’s fundraising dinner, which will be held at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton, in October.
