New President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton

John Capper FCA of John Capper and Co Chartered Accountants, a local practice in North Staffordshire, has been elected as President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton.

John Capper

John will focus on the impact of technology on ICAEW Chartered Accountants, their teams and their organisations during his one-year term of office. The rapid advance of cloud accounting, automation and artificial intelligence into traditional accounting and taxation compliance areas requires practices to have new skills and to be able to offer real-time data insights across a much wider range of advisory solutions. Businesses are presented with opportunities to digitalise their finance functions, making efficient use of data-based knowledge in operations and decision-making.

Members of ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton welcomed John’s appointment at its recent AGM on 19 May 2020.

ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton plays an important role in supporting local members to address the unprecedented challenges facing the accountancy profession and businesses, such as digitalisation, modernisation of tax systems, Brexit and helping members affected by COVID-19. It also plays an important role in facilitating networking for local professionals through various activities and initiatives.

Speaking of his appointment, John said, ‘It is an honour to serve as President for ICAEW Staffs, Salop and Wolverhampton and during my year in office, I aim to help accountancy practices and businesses to recruit, develop and retain highly skilled team members to deliver a wide range of future-proofed solutions.’

Chris Beeston ACA of Geens has been appointed as Deputy President and Roger Stephenson FCA of Dunsley Properties as Treasurer.
