JC Boss FCA FBCS (Jeremy)
Jeremy is a chartered accountant who qualified with one of the major firms. He has over 20 years’ experience as a Chief Information Officer and a digital leader working at Board level. Fusing experience from both private and public sectors he had a strong track record of improving organisations through embracing technology and by harnessing the power of information.
On leaving the Civil Service in 2014 I have developed a portfolio of activities. I am a Non -Executive Director at the DVLA, the government agency which holds over 45 million driver records, over 39 million vehicle records and collects around £6 billion a year in Vehicle Excise Duty. I am also a Non-Executive Director at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust the acute hospital serving Bath & North East Somerset, Wiltshire and parts of Somerset. I also formed my own company to provide insight to organisations on the opportunities from digital services and managing risks in the cyber age – Boss Cyber Limited.
My last government CIO role was at the Department of Energy & Climate Change where I worked to transform the organisation’s digital and technology services in line with the latest UK Government strategies. I was also a long-serving member of the Cabinet Office’s digital leaders and technology leaders groups championing the transformation of UK public services.
I am currently the chair of the ICAEW’s IT Faculty and also chairs the Audit Insights working group on Cyber Security
