Jeffrey Smith read Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Leeds University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1974 with Robson Rhodes (now part of Grant Thornton).

He joined The Chartered Institute of Taxation as a member in 1979 and became a Chartered Tax Adviser on receipt by them of their Royal Charter in 1994. He gained his Diploma in Financial Services from The Chartered Insurance Institute in 2010.

In 1976 he joined Eacott Standing & Co which became Eacott Worrall shortly after the acquisition of Worral Vize in 1979 and now Eacotts. He has been a general practitioner all of his career, the tax parter of the firm for 15 years, is a Responsible Individual for audit purposes and has been Managing Partner of the firm since 2003.

He was a Tresurer and then Chair of the Thames Valley Branch of The Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1999-2000 and was Regional Coordinator for the South East of England from 2002 to 2011.

He was President of ICAEW Chartered Accountants Thames Valley, the local district Society of ICAEW, in 2013/14 and again in 2015/16.

He has been on Slough Council of The Thames Valley Chamber of commerce for many years and President from August 2014 to 2019.

Jeffrey is married with 2 daughters.
