Company pensions face bigger deficit

The debt resting on private sector pension schemes in the UK reached £117 billion at the end of last month, new figures show

Last year, the debt level was £67.3 billion after July and £73.8 billion after August.

The Pension Protection Fund's study assessed 6,533 final salary pension schemes, and just 1,521 of them showed any surplus this August.
