Increased deficit for pension funds

Many UK pension funds saw their deficits increase during July, according to the latest figures from the Pension Protection Fund (PPF).

The PPF 7800 Index's 6,533 defined benefit pensions, including final salary schemes, had a collective deficit of £67.3 billion at the end of July 2011, up from a deficit of £8.3 billion the previous month.
