By now most entities will have applied FRS 102 at least once. Some will have applied it a couple of times already and will be gearing up for their third year of applying the new standard. For many what we still tend to refer to as ‘new’ UK GAAP is fast becoming business as usual. With the transition phase now behind us, it’s time to assess how the standard is being applied practice.

The Financial Reporting Faculty has got feedback from QAD, the ICAEW Technical Advisory Service, Companies House and HMRC. The judges have now spoken. And the verdict is that there is definitely room for improvement!

This roadshow will give feedback on the areas where FRS 102 is proving to be challenging. Using practical examples, delegates will be shown how to better comply with what can sometimes be a difficult accounting standard.

Key topics to be covered include:

  • Intragroup loans, including the impact on distributable profits and tax
  • Group accounting issues
  • Fixed assets and component accounting
  • Presentation and disclosure issues
  • Companies Act compliance issues
  • Why accounts are being rejected by Companies House
  • The impact of the micro-entities regime
  • Charity accounting issues

The roadshow will also take a more detailed look at proposed changes to FRS 102 proposed by FRED 67 and the FRC’s plans for incorporating major new IFRSs into UK GAAP.
