ICAEW’s artificial intelligent assistant is powered by IBM Watson Conversation.
It uses natural language processing and machine learning to understand the intent expressed within inputs (ie, questions and statements), and then predicts the right response based on pattern analysis.
The AI assistant also has IBM Watson Tone Analyser built in to interpret sentiment and react accordingly – call it a moron and see what it does.
Confidence logic has been developed within the software, which means the bot will only provide a response if it’s 50% sure it has deduced the correct intent. If not, it will ask the user to rephrase the question or remind the user which areas of knowledge it can cover.
